Andrea is a pharmacist who has previously worked in primary care and in community pharmacy, she is a Reader and Non-Medical prescribing programme director in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull. She gained her undergraduate degree (first class honours) in pharmacy from the University of Bradford in 1999, before completing an MSc in clinical pharmacy while working in secondary care. Andrea completed her PhD in 2006 while working on the MRC-funded RESPECT trial. Her PhD was titled Development and Validation of a UK Medication Appropriateness Index. Andrea has been active in research since 2006 particularly in the field of dementia research, community pharmacy and medication/prescribing. Andrea is delighted to be working with the team on BIODrive.

David Allsup

Dr David Allsup is Senior Lecturer in Haematology at the Hull York Medical School and an Honorary Consultant Haematologist with the Hull University Teaching Hospital. He undertook his haematology specialist training in Liverpool and was subsequently appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in Haematology with the University of Liverpool in 2001. During this period he undertook research into the role of B-cell receptor signalling in the pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia which ultimately formed the basis of a PhD which was awarded in 2004. In 2004 he commenced work as a Consultant Haematologist in Hull University Teaching Hospital Trust. His clinical work in Hull encompassed all subspeciality areas but with particular emphasis on lymphoid malignancies and haemostasis. These clinical interests supported ongoing research into chronic lymphocytic leukaemia both within the University of Hull and with external collaborators, notably Professor J Allan of the University of Newcastle. In 2018 he was appointed as Senior Lecturer in the University of Hull where he continues to develop research interests in haematological malignancies and supportive care. Dr Allsup is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, Member of the United Kingdom Haemophilia Centre Directors Organisation, Member of the UK CLL Forum, a member of the NCRN CLL clinical trials subgroup and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As well as being joint chief investigator on BioDriveAFS he is chief investigator on a registry study of acute leukaemia in pregnancy and co-investigator on FLAIR and STATIC, phase III studies in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. He has authored and co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented his work nationally and internationally

Gavin Barlow

Gavin is an academic infection consultant at Hull York Medical School (HYMS) and University of York and has more than 15 years of experience in senior clinical and academic practice including in orthopaedic infection, successful leadership of antimicrobial stewardship at Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) [2005-2018], and international antimicrobial stewardship education. He has been involved in practice changing UK multi-centre trials in infection such as OVIVA and ARREST, is co-Chief Investigator of BioDriveAFS, provided leadership in the local research response to COVID-19 and the development of the Infection Research Group (IRG) at HUTH, and has >100 peer reviewed publications. Research experience is broad, including translational, quantitative, qualitative, and quality improvement methods.
Jacqueline Sneddon

Dr Jacqueline Sneddon is Programmes Manager for the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC), a learned society dedicated to supporting education on infection and antimicrobial use. In this role she leads UK and global projects on antimicrobial stewardship. She is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), a member of the RPS Scottish Pharmacy Board and in 2021 was successful in being credentialed by the RPS as a Consultant Pharmacist. From 2008-2021 Jacqueline was the Project Lead for the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG) which leads the national antimicrobial stewardship programme. She has served on several national HAI and AMR groups, chaired an update of the SIGN UTI guideline, and contributed as an expert to NICE guidelines. Jacqueline is widely published on antimicrobial stewardship, has been an invited speaker at UK and international conferences and is a peer reviewer for several infection and pharmacy journals. During 2019 - 2021, Jacqueline led a multi-professional team awarded a global volunteering grant from the Fleming Fund that supported two hospitals in Ghana to establish antimicrobial stewardship.

Sam is a Research Fellow/Trial Manager based at York Trials Unit. Sam previously managed the SPACES programme of research which aims to co-produce an intervention to support people with severe mental ill health to take part in physical activity and coordinated a number of large national multi-centre trials, including the Covid-19 Urgent Public Health Study BASIL (Behavioural Activation in Social Isolation) which aimed to rapidly develop a feasible, acceptable, clinical and cost-effective brief psychological intervention (behavioural activation) to improve depression and loneliness in older adults with physical-mental multi-morbidity during isolation.
